Another SEC battle headlines this week’s slate of college football. It is hard to believe, but we are closer to the finish line than we are to the start of the season, and virtually no one has established themselves as the clear best team in football. At one point in the season, both Florida and Georgia looked like the best team.

Florida comes into the game with a 5-2 record for the season. They’ve had some impressive wins, but they’ve spoiled those a bit with some rather ugly losses. After beating Ole Miss by 24 points, they followed up the performance with back-to-back losses against Missouri and South Carolina. The Tigers are a good team, but losing to the Gamecocks at home isn’t something that should happen to a playoff team. Florida then might’ve ended Texas’ season with a win the last time they played. 

Georgia has put together yet another strong campaign. They are one of the best programs in the country, so it shouldn’t be much of a surprise. The team suffered their first loss of the season last time they played. Perhaps it was a bit of an obvious letdown spot. They came off beating Alabama in Alabama and dropped a game to Auburn at home. Losing at home is always ugly, but losing to Auburn is a blemish they won’t soon forget.
