A shopper with bad manners in Texas will spend the next 30 years in the slammer for fatally shooting a woman who had accused her of not saying thank you for holding the door.

Keona Hampton, 23, was hit with the heavy sentence in the Oct. 7, 2025, murder of Cecilia Simpson after Simpson confronted Hampton for not thanking her for holding the door open at a Dallas Five Below, according to a report by the Dallas Morning News.

A livid Hampton was accused of taking the fight to a PetSmart in the same plaza — following Simpson and her daughter when they drove to the second store, the outlet reported, citing the arrest warrant affidavit.

Simpson told a PetSmart employee that Hampton was following her before Hampton came inside and started arguing with Simpson again, leaving and coming back minutes later to fight more.

An employee eventually kicked the bickering trio out of the store.

When Simpson and her daughter got in the car and began driving away, Hampton chucked a bottle at their vehicle, prompting Hampton to get out and confront Simpson another time.

The pair started physically fighting as Simpson’s daughter tried to break it up, when Hampton pulled out a gun and shot Simpson three times.

Hampton fled the scene and Simpson was taken to a hospital where she died.

Hampton was arrested later that day during a traffic stop.

Hampton pleaded guilty to murder on Sept. 23 and was sentenced the same day.

Judge Tammy Kemp signed off on Hampton’s plea deal. Hampton will receive 303 days of credit toward her sentence for time served since her arrest.
