The future of Khalil Mack could be dictated on how the Chargers performed in their Week 8 game against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

Before the Chargers and Rams kicked off at SoFi Stadium, NFL insider Ian Rapoport said a Mack trade to the Bears is “still very much a possibility.”

As Rapoport was talking about the Bears’ blockbuster trade for Jeffrey Simmons earlier in the week and how the Rams and Browns trade for Myles Garrett over the offseason was the “framework” of the deal, he added that Mack could be reuniting with his former team.

“The Bears may not actually be done, Rich; I’m told they are still calling around. Still looking on the edges of their defense,” Rapoport said. “Won’t be surprised if a Khalil Mack trade was in the offer here. A possible reunion for Mack and the Bears.”

If Mack is traded by the Chargers, it would be the third time in his career he’s been traded.

Ironicially, all of the deals he’s been a part of have been with an AFC West team and the Bears.

In 2018, Mack was traded by the Raiders to the Bears, and then offloaded by Chicago to the Chargers in 2022.

Last March, the Chargers and Mack agreed to terms on a one-year deal that would keep him around for this season.

But given Los Angeles’ 0-7, their playoff aspirations are quickly fading away, and Mack has found his name in the rumor mill to be moved before the NFL Trade Deadline on Nov. 10.

Mack was nominated to four Pro Bowls during his time in Chicago and was an All-Pro and the Dick Butkus Award winner in 2018 when he had 12.5 sacks with 18 quarterback hits and six forced fumbles.

At 35 years old, Mack has shown that he can still play at a high level, entering Sunday with three sacks and 19 combined tackles, while playing in all six of the Chargers’ games.
