Doggone flight.
A diabetic Aeroméxico passenger traveling with his Great Dane service dog was denied boarding his return flight home from Canada as the airline claimed there was no room for the large pooch.
Matias Rodriguez had flown to Vancouver from his home in Chile via Mexico with his trusty steed Logan, but were banned from the flight when they embarked on their journey home on Saturday, CTV News reported.
“He flew back here with no problem, so why does it make any issue flying back home? I don’t understand why,” Rodriguez told the outlet through Contreras.
Logan, who is trained to alert Rodriguez on dangerous blood sugar levels and any potential diabetic emergencies, was denied access because of a reported lack of space on the plane.
The bleary-eyed canine had flown to the Great White North with his owner in February without incident, sitting peacefully on the floor of an empty seat, according to photos shared by friend Vynka Contreras
Rodriguez had expected to fly out of Canada, but was turned around at the gate when airline workers informed him of the booked flight with no room for Logan.
The dog owner didn’t fight the initial claim, returning to the airport the next day for his rescheduled flight, only to be given the same excuse.
“So they had to rebook him again to the next day. The next day, the same thing, all the flight is booked,” Contreras said.
Airline officials told Rodriguez to book a $3,000 business class ticket but was warned the upgraded seat didn’t guarantee Logan a spot on board and he wasn’t leaving his companion behind.
The Boeing 737 MAX 8, which Aeroméxico generally uses for flights between Vancouver and Mexico City, offers a 30-inch pitch, or legroom, available in Economy class with additional spacing increasing to 38 inches for Business class, according to SeatMaps.com.
The entire travel fiasco has played a huge role on both Rodriguez and Logan’s health, Contreras revealed.
“He’s very depressed, he’s very stressed as well, and when he’s stressed, obviously his animal is also stressed, right?” she said.
Contreras continued to hound the airline Wednesday night, revealing they have appeared to ignore her messages to them.
“Logan came to Canada with Aeroméxico, and we’re hoping the airline will show him the same consideration now,” she wrote on Facebook. “We’ve placed our trust in this airline and spent a significant amount of money with them. Please, let’s stand together and make our voices heard.”
The Post has reached out to Aeroméxico.
Logan has been a more respectful flyer than some human passengers Aeroméxico has had to deal with this year.
In April, an enraged woman assaulted airport workers in Mexico after she was denied entry onto her flight because she had arrived to the gate late.
The incident inside Mexico City International Airport erupted after the unidentified woman arrived for her flight seven minutes after its 5:20 p.m. departure.
